Mission Statement

The City of Sutter Creek, Public Works Department mission is to enhance the quality of life for our community by providing sustainable, efficient, and cost effective public services. We are dedicated to ensuring the health and well-being of our residents through the responsible management of the wastewater collection system, wastewater treatment facility, maintaining safe and accessible streets, and fostering vibrant and well-maintained parks. The Public Works team are committed to transparency, accountability, and collaboration with our community, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Together, we strive to build a resilient, sustainable, and thriving city where residents can live, work, and play in a clean, safe, and vibrant environment.

Sewer Collection System

The City owns and maintains a vast network of over 114,750 feet of sewer collection system piping to route wastewater from every residence to the wastewater treatment facility (WWTF).  The City has developed and is constantly updating our Sewer System Management Plan which aims to prevent and or reduce sanitary sewer overflows.  The SSMP describes our methods and procedures to perform targeted proactive preventative maintenance, minimize SSO response time, protect the environment and perform upgrades to the collection system.

Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF)

The WWTF receives domestic wastewater and treats it to a secondary treatment level.  The WWTF has a design capacity of 0.48 million gallons per day and is operated under Waste Discharge Order No. 94-153.  Our licensed wastewater operators are onsite everyday to maintain the treatment facility.  The goal of the WWTF is to remove solids and reduce biochemical oxygen demand (BOD). By reducing BOD we eliminate harmful pollutants from being released into the environment.  We maintain discharge limits at the facility and test regularly before sending our effluent into the discharge system (ARSA). We aim to meet and exceed regulatory standards while maintaining a cost effective process.

Streets

In managing our streets, we pledge to create a reliable and efficient transportation network. This includes proactive maintenance, timely repairs, and the implementation of technologies to enhance traffic flow and pedestrian safety. Our goal is to provide a seamless and well-connected infrastructure that contributes to the overall prosperity and convenience of our city.

Parks and Recreational Areas

Recognizing the importance of green spaces in fostering community well-being, we are dedicated to maintaining and enhancing our parks. Through sustainable landscaping, recreational programming, and community engagement, we aim to create inviting and inclusive spaces that promote physical and mental health, social interaction, and a sense of civic pride.

Facilities and Building Maintenance

The systematic upkeep, repair, and management of City buildings and facilities to ensure they function efficiently, remain safe, and meet operational requirements. This encompasses various tasks, including routine inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs, and improvements. The goal is to prolong the lifespan of facilities and buildings while minimizing disruptions to operations.
